MANA Goes on a Mission with Bless Back Worldwide
Bless Back Worldwide, an organization local to MANA’s Matthews office, grew out of the devastation that the catastrophic earthquake brought to Haiti in 2010. What began as a group of 22 doctors, physician’s assistants, students, and friends responding to the aftermath, turned into a large network of volunteers who travel overseas and serve locally in the Charlotte area to change the world through “re-gifting.” They share their blessings and “bless back” people around the world who need their help most.
BBW regularly sends teams to Cambry/Les Cayes, Haiti to provide medical, non-medical, and spiritual support to those who are suffering. A box of MANA recently went on one of these journeys, to an orphanage called Cherette. The arrival to the orphanage followed 20 hours of travel from Charlotte, a lengthy bus trip, loading into pickup trucks, and crossing a river three times. Feeling weary and restless after such a journey, BBW photographer Allison Fowler opened the Bible app on her iPhone to get some much needed encouragement. Exodus 16 popped up on her phone. The heading read, “God provides Manna.” Do you have goosebumps, too? Needless to say, Allison was dumbfounded and filled with immense hope and reassurance.
As the medical volunteers ran a mobile medical and dental clinic in the village, non-medical volunteers played with the children and blessed back 123 orphans with MANA RUTF. Upon their return, Allison kindly shared her beautiful photographs with us. We are very grateful to see these children enjoying every last drop of sweetness from the pouches and for the volunteers who are blessing back around the world.
